3. Training in my driveway to Training in my own Commando Temple!

Circus 'Globe Dumbell'

On a regular basis I train In some of the best green spaces that London has to offer and with the weather turning for the better I am starting to develop an impressive Coal Miners tan (face and forearms)

My own training occasionally suffers! I struggle to drag myself away from doing endless amounts of Admin (That every aspiring Business has when wanting to get as strong as a Spartan).

I was asked the question this week "Where do you get your motivation from to train hard and to not give up!) Things have not always been that way and Keeping in shape or bettering ourselves should be a privilage...because we can...And becuase we enjoy the strong sense of personal achievement when it all comes together.....Strength, Power, conditioning, fat loss etc, they are derived from your hard work and you reap all the benefits!! Its a no brainer to me.

Training for me used to be a constant battle however (even when I joined the Royal Marine Commandos back in 2000) I was consistently in the bottom quarter.....Not good when you are in a Male dominated testosterone filled environment :)

It took me two years after Commando training to get myself by the scruff of the neck and start giving a s**t

Those initial years scraping my way through the various challenges and trials that The Royal Marine Commandos had to offer 'encouraged' me to give my all or as near to it as possible....Any thing below that know makes me think 'Whats the point?'

Several of my clients enjoy telling me "Your meant to be fit and strong...you were a Marine" or "its your job to keep fit so its easier for you"  That, in my opinion is Bullsh**

I Know plenty of EX Royals that are not that interested in keeping fit and strong and I also know plenty of Personal Trainers (90%+) that are at best healthy.... (It makes me ashamed to tell people I am a PT when the industry is riddled with under performing educators and overly vain 'treadmill trainers'

Yesterday evening I was thrashing myself around in my flat until 23.20 getting some PB's on my new 60kg Kettle Bell and making sure that I work as hard as I teach.

Over the last 12 months I have been toying with the idea of getting my own Commando Training facility up and running!! I am now pleased to announce that I have located a facility and I have submitting plans with Lewisham council for a change of class ....should hopefully be squared away to Commando Facility 'Training/gym facility' in 8-12 weeks and I will be renovating it into an awesome training dungeon for approx 4-6 weeks after that.

By the end of the summer when the sun is decreasing a new chapter exploring the long term vision I have will be taking hold with a vengeance!....I cant wait to get a world class training facility up and running that is open to the dedicated Urban Athlete and Professional Warrior!

4. Ethical 'Traditional' Eating for the modern day hunter gatherer....

Nutritional image

Nutritional intake is the most important and undervalued area of reducing body fat and getting a chiselled physique.

In the last few years there have been several notable Nutritional Guru's That I have had a keen interest in following.

Go Commando's Nutritional Coach 'Lisa O'Doherty' has been keeping pace with the latest research from these Independant Dr's and international speakers whilst maintaining a broad outlook on how each of Go commando's clients can harvest Mother Nature's best bits!

99% of the time this means we need to go back to basics and cut out the crap that has been drilled into us from modern day advertising and multi Billion pound businesses.

Take a look here for an excellent alternative look at how we can start to break through some of the modern day Nutritional myths with an article from Barry Grove, an expert on nutrition. I attended a full day of world class Nutritional lectures in Kensington last weekend and this article written for the Telegraph newspaper still holds plenty of weight today http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/3230846/Healthy-food-Should-we-be-eating-more-fat.html

Everyone these days seems to have Health and Nutritional advice from all manner of sources (Men's health...Google...the sun!) but Nutrition is a complex area that is still to be fully explored and understood.

The latest research taking place in The scientific community is about how different food groups interact with each other and the implications different food groups have in various combinations....

When you are looking at the food on your plate or in your hand, ask youself if you understand the reasons why you are eating it (For what Nutritional benefit) or if the food has got the minimal requirements to get you to where you want to be physically and emotionally!

Don't get sucked into believing that the food processing and chain food stores have your best interest at heart............

Nutritional Intake

For an ethical look at how we approach one of our most valuable food groups (Fish) please take a  look at this website from Ethical food campaigner Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall...over 600,000 people are signed up already

Thanks guy's for reading my thoughts, suggestions and current news

have a powerful month full of Strength and Contact me with any questions you may have or if you require any professional help
