"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever. That surrender, even the smallest act of giving up, stays with me. So when I feel like quitting, I ask myself, which would I rather live with?" - Lance Armstrong

Mike Mahler 'Aggresive strength training'

"I had the great pleasure of working with Rob at one of my London workshops and I was very impressed with his kettlebell technique, intelligent questions, and strong desire to soak up knowledge. The last thing you want is an ego maniac trainer that thinks he knows it all. Trainers like Rob that work hard to continually improve are exactly what you want. I recommend his services highly!"

I met Rob in November 2008 and had a choice... a Clapham gym or a personal trainer.
My first session lasted 15 minutes and I was sick!
Two and a half years later I'm still going strong with Rob's PT sessions and never joined a gym.
My story with Rob started with one goal - "to get around the London Marathon alive".
I hadn't done any real exercise for over 5 years and had no idea how I was going to get around. Over the 5 months of Marathon training Rob crafted a bespoke session every week developing my mind, body and diet enabling me to enjoy the Marathon experience and recording a sub 4 hr time.
I kid you not, weekly sessions through rain and snow enabled me to push my body to the extremes. The uniqueness and expertise Rob showed developed key muscle groups, cardio fitness (that rivalled a Spartan) and a mental toughness that kept me going when things got tough.
His infectious personality drove me to commit to doing my very best and in return he offered unrivalled support that never finished when the session did.
Since my Marathon training ended our sessions have developed and my goals have changed...Cross Country Triathlons, Hell runner, Grim and Tough guy.
The one consistent throughout has been a relevant and challenging session every week. Whatever the event, a specific plan is developed and my fitness, conditioning and strength has increased ensuring I enjoy every minute.
Rob's continued support makes me believe any challenge is achievable with hard work and commitment.
I now consider Rob to be a good friend and wouldn't hesitate in recommending a Go Commando session over a gym membership any day!

Let me be clear here; training with Rob Blair is tough! His group and PT sessions are intense but Rob’s enthusiasm, support and banter keep you going. If you’re willing to put the work in; and I mean real hard work, the benefits are huge. Rob isn’t a run-of-the-mill trainer and his sessions aren’t like other fitness classes. When I first started training with him it would take my body a week to recover from one session. There are still times during training when my body screams for me to stop, but the results I’ve achieved and the buzz I get after every session has me coming back for more.
Rob is a straight talker. If you’re slacking, you’ll know about it. If you’ve got a weakness that needs addressing, he’ll deal with it. You can’t hide and you simply can’t train to his intensity in a gym or by yourself.
His own continued quest for self-improvement is inspiring and his ever growing list of advanced professional qualifications is not only impressive it ensures his sessions are always varied and challenging. I myself have developed my fitness and particularly my running using a myriad of innovative and specialist kit; from kettle bells to TRX suspension bands, bungee ropes to sprint parachutes.
Rob has made me stronger and fitter than I’d ever hoped for. From the typical couch potato my improvement has been dramatic. I’ve lost over a stone and more than 5% of body fat. I now look better, as well as feeling stronger and fitter than ever.
I’ve been training with Rob for over 18 months now and I consider him a good mate. My continued improvement has always been under Rob’s expert tutelage. Together we’ve unlocked my potential step-by-step. Since I started training with him I’ve managed to hike at high altitude in South America and Africa, conquered Tough Guy, finished top ten in Hell runner Aftermath, finished second in both the Eton Dorney Half Marathon and the O’Dowd’s Five in Ireland, finished 25th out of 5,000 at the Hasting half marathon and I’m now on the brink of qualifying for the London Marathon with a championship time.
I can’t recommend Rob highly enough.
Thanks for everything Rob.

It is extremely rare to find someone who is as passionate, dedicated and knowledgeable as Rob. His approach to fitness in general is refreshing and that is the sole reason why so many regularly turn out in rain or shine to
get a unique workout experience.
I have personally found that my overall fitness has improved immeasurably and have the confidence to undertake a few of the harder challenges out there like Tough Guy or Hell Runner.
One of his strengths lies in his ability to interact at a personal level to encourage, motivate and enthuse all those around him.
This is particularly true for the small group kettle bell sessions on Wednesday evenings and I have noticed a definite improvement in core strength which I could not have achieved as quickly or effectively using weights at the local gym.
All the sessions have been varied and I recommend them for anyone, especially if the boredom and repetitiveness of gym sessions has started to become a problem!!

" When I heard about the Commando classes at Gym box I thought they were maybe some sort of gimmick as so many other are. Then my boxing trainer (ex-Marine also) and the more "hardcore" gymgoers recommended it to me. I thought my level of fitness was good, that I was fairly strong: I used to do two group classes back to back plus some weight training; well, after my first "Commando taste", I was only good for the sauna, I couldn't handle anything else. I was very impressed with the physical demands of the class, but was more impressed even with Rob's approach: his commitment, knowledge and real interest on delivering a true outstanding experience.
Rob invited me to join his outdoor classes last summer and that has completely changed the way I train: I have never been pushed so hard, nor have trained with so many like minded people. Rob is the catalyst that brings amazing people together and develops the best on every single one of them. If anyone told me that I would be running up hills, swinging heavy kettle bells or carrying people three stones heavier than me on my back, all that come rain or sun (or snow), I would think they were dreaming... Now, the sky is the limit!
After 4 months training with Rob, I quit the gym as I could not stand anymore the mentality, the closed spaces, the lack of interest from most of the trainers, and mostly, the classes were way too easy for me. It used to turn me off looking at the same people going nowhere. Now, I train lesser hours then I used to, but I am probably 200% fitter and stronger. But the best with Rob is that there is no boredom, every session he surprises us a little more, we just keep going further and further, and pushed as hard now as we were on our first day. His motivation and energy just rubs on us and I can now motivate myself go running whatever the weather or lift kettle bells in my back garden in order to keep my fitness at optimum levels - after all I need to be as fit as possible to keep up with Rob's sessions.

After getting seriously out of shape and closing rapidly on a 100 kilo weight mark I decided I had to do something about it. Visits to local gym didn't help much. I just couldn't push myself hard enough to get any meaningful result. So when Go Commando classes started on my doorstep I knew I had to try it.
Nearly a year on now after going Commando what do I think about it?
I have to admit I'm still dreading going to it as it's a certain I will always be pushed to my limits and beyond. Having said that you feel great at the end of the session. There is a nice feeling of accomplishing something and overcoming your laziness and pain barrier.
No one session is the same with Rob and it's not senseless running around and doing push ups until you're completely exhausted. Well, you will be completely exhausted but it will be done in more intelligent and controlled way.
After started doing sessions with Rob I made some changes to my lifestyle as well. I did cut on my drinking significantly and stopped smoking completely as I was feeling that after training so hard it would be criminal to waste it.
One more thing about Rob. You will see it's not just about money with him. He is very passionate about his work and he does care about you and getting the best results from you.

I climbed Aconcagua (22,841 ft) the highest peak in the Andes at the start of 2007. Rob conditioned me for the climb during 2006 and I have never been better physically prepared for any expedition I have undertaken. The climb took place over a year ago at the time of writing and through Rob's approach to training me I now regard him as a close friend.
